You can lead a whore to culture …

Corn, after 8 days.… but you’ll never separate her from her cell phone.

I never realized the extent of our collective infatuation with the cell phone until I started shopping for one.

This time, it’s purely economic. We pay $45 per month for a “land line”, and another $45 per month for my better half’s cell phone. An inexpensive “family plan” gives us more than enough talk-time, and we will only pay about $60 for the privilege.

I admit to a reptilian love-affair with the Motorola RAZR phones, so I now have two of them on order. It did not, however, come with some small amount of pain.

After several hours of wrangling details out of the various providers (what exactly is a “Gross Receipts Surcharge”, and a “Regulatory Recovery Fee”?), I managed to get everything signed to my satisfaction. The new phones will arrive later this week, and I will disconnect my land line before the end of the month.

I’m also happy to report that our various seedlings are blossoming. The corn is the current reigning superstar; the sunflowers are a close second place.
