I had a lovely weekend camping on Cape Lookout. This was Sydney’s first camping experience, and I decided it was wise to keep it relatively short in case we had any problems.
Here’s a few photos from our trip:
The island is accessible only by ferry, and this is what you see when you first arrive. The lighthouse itself was built in the 1860’s (replacing an earlier one built in the 1810’s), and there’s no photo that really does its majestic grandeur any justice.
Wild horses are a common sight on the adjacent Shackleford Island. These beauties were spotted on the ferry ride back to Harker’s Island.
My new friend was standing guard - assuring us that he would protect us from any tasty fish that swam by.
