Last night I got together with another meetup.com group for a round of guitar playing.
In truth, this was the first time I had ever played guitar with a group of people. And I’ve been an on-again, off-again player for 10 years now.
It was a blast. We stuck mainly to rock standards (Beetles, Lightfoot, Garth, CCR, Neil Young and the like), and we even managed to sing in tune at times. I added a few good chords to my repertoire and discovered that I can actually hold a tune and play at the same time.
And for some reason, I have the uncanny urge to learn Kenny Rogers’ “The Gambler” now. Just seems like the kind of song anyone should be able to break out a guitar and play.
