My mother gave me some of the best advice I have ever received in my life. She told me to “take one positive step each day. Don’t overdo it.”
This has been profound for me. Instead of trying to figure out how to move a mountain, I have taken one positive step in my marriage every day for the past three weeks. This could be doing a little extra cleaning around the house, spending some extra time with Sydney and Muskoka, or leaving a single rose on her pillow (it was only the second time in the last 12 years that I’ve bought her a flower).
My fingers are firmly crossed.

I’m sure I can say that all of your readers’ fingers are crossed too.

I agree, your mother is a smart woman. And my fingers are crossed for you, too. I don’t think anything is truly impossible when it comes to relationships.
