Carolyn got home from Toronto tonight. I was out with a friend when she got in - and by the time I got home, she was in bed and the lights were turned out.
So weird to have her in the house, and not be speaking to her. She’s my wife; I should be giving her a big hug and talking excitedly about her trip. Instead, I’m burrowed in my office and she’s sleeping (or maybe not?) in the bedroom.
Fucking hard - there’s no other words for it.

Oh gosh Mike, I am so sorry you guys are going through all this. I was just taking time to catch up on all my blog reading and was shocked to see this.
It seems like you are dealing with it well, that you both still care about each other and that you have a good outlook for the things you want to do in the future. Living simply is never a bad thing.
I wish you the best in getting through this difficult time.

Mike, I’m very sorry to see what’s going on in your life right now. I just can’t imagine having to deal with this, and be so far from home and family.
Hang in there.
hugs
